Golden Eagles Take First Series of the 2022 Season

The Golden Eagles traveled to Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN for the first weekend series of the 2022 season.
 
Game 1 (UC – 4, LMU – 5) 
In the first game of three, the Golden Eagles struck first when leadoff hitter Jordan Bailey walked and was driven in by Tyler Dellerman. Later in the same inning, Casey Finck would collect his first collegiate hit and drive in Dellerman. With some timely hitting in the second and third innings, LMU would take the lead to make the score 4-2. LMU would then scratch another run in the eighth inning. UC clawed back within one run in the ninth, but the rally would be cut short, and UC dropped game one of the series.

Game 2 (UC – 8, LMU – 1) 
In game two of the series, the Golden Eagles again chalked the game's first runs in the top of the first inning when William Glazebrook had a sacrifice fly, plating Jordan Bailey. The Eagles continued to pour it on in the first frame with RBIs from Finck and Kyle West. At the end of the first inning, UC held the lead 4-0. Charleston would again strike in the third inning with another RBI from Finck. Lincoln Memorial struck back in the sixth inning when LMU's Sam Mast sacrifice fly that brought the score to 5-1. The Golden Eagles would add three more runs in the eighth innings with RBIs from Bryce Toussaint, Glazebrook, and Brayden McCallister scoring on a wild pitch. Charleston would go on to notch their first win on the season.

Game 3 (UC – 7, LMU – 1) 
In the rubber match of the series, the first three innings were scoreless for both the Golden Eagles and Rail Splitters. The Golden Eagles, however, would strike in the fourth inning with a Kyle West two RBI triple, plating Costigan and Boddorf. LMU would fight back in the fourth inning with an RBI single from Ryan Kurth scoring Carson Boles. Charleston would add to its lead in the fifth inning with a two RBI double from Glazebrook. The Eagles would add one more run in the same frame with an RBI single from Braxton Boddorf. UC tacked on two more insurance runs in the seventh inning with an RBI single by Dellerman and Glazebrook scoring on a passed ball. Charleston would take the game and finish the weekend with a series victory of 2-1.

The Golden Eagles will travel next weekend to face the defending D2 national champions at Wingate University in Wingate, NC.
