How It Happened

The Saturday night matchup saw the Golden Eagles fare much better than Friday night. The Golden Eagles took three straight set from St. Francis.

The first set was tight with UC barely holding on for a 25-23 victory. Back to back attack errors from the Terriers gave UC a one point cushion and then a service error gave the Golden Eagles the win in set one.

The second set saw Charleston win another hard fought battle. UC took a 22-20 lead late in the set before a service error and another kill from Outside Andrea Lacianese tied the score at 22. Kills by Nathan Cartier, Jake Vorburger and and a Terrier attack error gave UC a 25-22 win and a two set to none lead.
The final set was all Golden Eagles as Luke Reynold's squad handily defeated the Terriers 25-16.  A big momentum swing in the middle of the set when UC was down 9-8. Charleston steadied the ship and took seven the next eight points to take a 13-10 lead. From there it was just about staying focused and coming out with the win. The match would ultimately end on a kill by 6'8" Jake Vorburger with the assist coming from Diego Villafane.
