CHARLESTON, W.Va – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles hosted the King University Tornadoes at the Wehrle Innovation Center. The Golden Eagles fell in a five-set thriller, 3 -2.
The Basics

During the first set, the Golden Eagles struggled to hit the ball with a hitting percentage of only .125 compared to the Tornadoes, .448. King University took advantage of UC's attacking errors and took the first set by a score of 25 – 20. The Golden Eagles closed the set with two of their seven attacking errors.
The second set saw the Golden Eagles come back and rally against Tornado. After a vicious Hudson Harris kill (who was 2nd in kills for UC), Charleston closed out the second set winning five of the last seven points to take the set by a score of 25 – 17.
The third set was taken by a score of 25 – 23 in favor of King University. The Tornado dominated the net with 19 kills throughout the set, led by senior Joshua Kim (led King University with 24 kills). Kim finished off the set with a powerful kill to take a set advantage over the Golden Eagles 2 – 1.
The fourth set saw UC tie the set score and put pressure on the Tornado going into the last set. After a big kill from Arthur Sueur (assisted by D. Villafane who led UC with 59), the Golden Eagles closed out the fourth set by a score of 25 -22.
The final set was back and forth action, until the Tornado broke away after a service error from the Golden Eagles. The Tornado closed out the set winning the last three points and took the match, with a set score of 19 – 17. The final match score was 3 - 2 in favor of King University.
