CHARLESTON, W.Va – Charleston baseball heads up I-79 to take on the Pioneers of Glenville State in a big four game series this weekend. All games will be livestreamed on Mountaineast.tv with game one beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Charleston needs a series win to remain atop the Mountain East Conference South Division while the Pioneers are looking to get back in the hunt for second place. In 22 contests between the two schools the Golden Eagles have won 18 of the matchups and, they have been victorious in their last eight games against the Pioneers. In a shortened season in 2021 Charleston managed a sweep in four games. They were able to walk off game three after a strong start by the Pioneers' starting pitcher Adam Riggleman. Riggleman was relieved in the seventh inning after the holding Charleston to just one run and striking out eight in the effort. Â Golden Eagles were able to capitalize with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The two teams have never squared off in a postseason contest in their history.

- Charleston comes into the weekend with a 26-9 overall record while going 18-2 in the MEC.
- Last weekend saw Charleston sweep the visiting Senators of Davis & Elkins while allowing just two runs in four games.
- Colt Webb was named NCBWA Atlantic Region and National Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete game no-hitter against the Senators. He allowed just four baserunners in the game (2 BB, HBP, dropped third strike).
- UC boasts a 4.24 team ERA on the season which and a 3.23 ERA in MEC play which is first in the Mountain East Conference.
- The 4.24 team ERA is 32nd best in the NCAA and third best in the MEC.
- UC hitters are batting .317 overall which is top 40 in the NCAA and 3rd in the MEC.
- In conference play UC is batting .356 which ranks them first in the Mountain East.
- Charleston's offense has been battering opponents in the as they lead in conference runs, hits, doubles, triples, and stolen bases. They are second in slugging percentage, walks, strikeouts, and hit by pitches.
- Charleston leads the MEC in conference FLD% at .978 making just 15 errors in conference play.
- Catcher Tyler Dellerman is putting together a strong case for Mountain East Conference Player of the Year. The Junior backstop is hitting .463 which is third in the MEC. He is 2nd in SLG% (.900), 4th in OBP (.563), 2nd in OPS (1.463), 1st in runs scored (35), 2nd in hits (37), 1st in RBI (36), 3rd in 2B (10), tied for 2nd in HR (7), and tied for fifth in BB (17).
- Dellerman is batting .419 overall on the season with 49 hits, 8 HR, 46 RBI, a .778 SLG %, .510 OB% and has caught 17 runners attempting to steal.
- Redshirt Junior Braxton Boddorf is putting together another solid campaign. He is hitting .407 with 48 hits, 33 runs, 31 RBI, a .490 OB% while swiping 16 bags on the season. He is top 10 in conference batting average, runs, RBI, doubles, triples, stolen bases, and walks.
- Redshirt Senior Jordan Bailey is leading the MEC with 27 stolen bases and has 42 runs scored on the season which is third in the conference.
- Freshman standout Kyle West is 7th in conference SLG%, 8th in OPS, 5th in runs, 2nd in RBI, 7th in 2B, tied for 2nd in HR, tied for 3rd in stolen bases and 1st in 3B. His is hitting .353 with 7 HR, 31 runs, a .716 SLG%, 15 BB, a .433 OB% and 14 stolen bases.
- Freshman Jack Reisenweber has been a big addition at third base in the past few weeks. He has played in 14 games and is hitting .400 with 15 BB, 1 HR, 11 RBI, and a .516 OB%,
- The pitching trio of Ethan Soderna, Colt Webb, and Drew Beckner has been dominant this year. Combined the three have 131.2 IP with 144 strikeouts and have a 4.44, 3.88 and 2.70 ERA respectively.
- Last week Soderna threw a complete game 7.0 IP two-hit shutout, while walking just one and striking out 12 Senators in a 8-0 win in game one. He is undefeated on the season with a 7-0.
- Colt Webb moved his record to 4-1 with wins over West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins. He leads the MEC in strikeouts looking, is 6th in ERA (3.88), 7th in OBA (.251), Ks (55), 8th walks allowed (16) and 4th in runs allowed (22).
- Charleston has been utilizing Owen MacNeil as the game four starter during conference play and the Georgetown, Ontario native has been solid. He has a 4.33 ERA with a 4-1 record while striking out 25 and walking just 9 to the tune of a 1.41 WHIP.Â
- The bullpen has been bolstered by the likes of Robby Shepherd, Campbell Spradling, Cole Peshl, and Caleb Rush.
- Shepherd leads UC with a 2.45 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 11 IP.
- Spradling boasts a 2.70 ERA and has 15 strikeouts in 13.1 IP and has allowed just one extra base hit on the season.
- Peshl has struck out 18 in 15.2 IP to the tune of a 2.89 ERA.
