Fairmont, W.Va.- The Charleston Golden Eagles defeated the Fairmont State University Falcons by a score of 6-1.

How it Happened:
The match started with both teams knowing that the regular season championship was on the line. Charleston came out strong, sweeping doubles by scores of 6-3 (1st Doubles), 6-4 (2nd Doubles) and 6-1 (3rd Doubles).
Playing on three courts, the first three singles players to go out were Dani Llorente, John Giesberts and Marshall Dagostine. Llorente wrapped up the first match with a convincing 6-4, 6-0 win. John Giesberts added the 3rd point with a with 6-1, 7-6 (6) win. In route to the victory, Giesberts fought off three set points in the second set. Dagostine dropped a tough third set match at number 3 singles. It was Freshman Jowan Rawson who provided the clinch point with a win over Charleston native Alex Stacy by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Krish Patel and Jake Magil provided the last two points. Both won in straight sets.
Of the match, Coach Sam Clarke said, "The two and half hour rain delay could have caused problems for the boys, but they responded quite well to the adversity of the conditions." Matt Santen added, "It was a very satisfying win because it gave us back to back MEC Championships."
The win gives the team the number one seed in the conference tournament, which will be held in Charleston on April 30th and May 1st.
Man of the Match goes to Jowan Rawson, who only dropped four games the entire day.
