MTEN: Golden Eagles Top Toppers 6-1

Charleston, W.Va.- The Charleston men's tennis team traveled to West Liberty, winning their second conference match and extending their win streak to six.

The Basics:
Location: Wheeling Park Bubble
Score: UC 6, WLU 1
Records: UC 13-2 (2-0 MEC), West Liberty 9-6 (2-2 MEC)

How it Happened:
The doubles point went to Charleston with a decisive win at first and second doubles, both by a score of 6-2.

Playing inside on four courts due to inclement weather, the men's tennis team went straight to work, winning first sets at 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th singles. John Giesberts extended the lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Krish Patel's win gave the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead, and it was Dani Llorente providing the clinch point at first singles by at score of 7-5, 6-1. Drew Dagostine (#3) and Jake Magill (#6) added the additional points. Jowan Rawson lost a tough 6-4, 6-4 match at #5 singles.

Coach Santen said, "I'm really happy with a 6-1 road win. West Liberty is tough, and they battled well at every position."

Man of the Match goes to John Giesberts, who dropped only 5 games on the day.

The Golden Eagles will match up with crosstown rival WV State at 3pm on Sunday, April 10th at the Schoenbaum Tennis Center.
