LOUISVILLE, KY - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) revealed the 54 players voted to the 2022 NFCA Division II All-America teams.
UC Sophomore shortstop Hannah Rose (New Haven, WV) was named First Team All-American by the NFCA. She becomes the first player from Charleston to ever earn First Team honors. The award caps off a season where she becomes the most decorated softball player for any season in UC history.
Earlier this month, Rose was named the MEC's Conference Player of the Year. This was another first for the UC program, as she is the first Golden Eagle to be recognized as the conference's top player.
This season, Rose was a dangerous lead off hitter for the Golden Eagles. She carried a batting average of .458, scored 52 runs, and drove in 33 runs of her own. She also exhibited great power from the top of the order as she smacked 22 doubles, 1 triple, and 4 homers, establishing a 1.240 OPS. The speedster also swiped 33 bases, which established a UC record. Rose posted 23 games with multiple hits, including a streak of seven games with more than one base hit. She also had two separate hitting streaks of 11 and 12 games each.
With the offensive output in her sophomore season, Rose now finds her name littering the University of Charleston record book. Rose ranks first in stolen bases, third in doubles, fourth in runs scored, fifth in batting average, fifth in total bases, and sixth in hits.
Rose can also be found among the best on the NCAA National leader board. Statistically, she ranks 1st in doubles per game, 4th in doubles, 9th in On Base Percentage, 15th in batting average, 17th in stolen bases, 30th in stolen bases per game, 43rd in hits, and 47th in runs per game.
The NFCA All-America teams are voted on by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division II, the committee consists of one member head coach from each of the NCAA's
eight regions. All student-athletes who were nominated by a member head coach and voted to the first- and second-team All-Region teams were eligible for All-America consideration.
