Charleston, W. Va – The Golden Eagles' baseball program has been awarded the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2021-2022 academic year. After coming off an incredible 2022 campaign, this accolade is a great way to round out the year and spotlight what these players have done in the classroom.
Head coach Robbie Britt is very grateful to have a reliable roster on and off the field stating, "To see the work our student-athletes and our staff put into this semester is so encouraging and it reflects program excellence. I am so proud of their efforts and commitment in the classroom arena."
In order to achieve this academic honor, a team must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA for the academic year. This year, the Golden Eagles finished with a 3.21 GPA.
This accolade will add on to the tremendous 40-win season after making an appearance in the Atlantic Region final. The program continues to set the bar for itself year after year and this award will add another item to the standard for the Golden Eagles.
"This accolade is another example of our commitment to creating a well-rounded, wholistic, student-athlete experience, and I'm excited to continue watching our student-athletes grow into leaders."
The Golden Eagles will open up their 2023 season with a three game series against the Bulldogs of Wingate University on February 10th at 6:00 p.m. in Wingate, NC.
