CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Golden Eagles continued their hot start to the season coming into the UC Tri-Match and went undefeated against Johnson C. University and Central State University.
The Basics (Match One):
Location: Charleston, W.Va. (Russell and Martha Wehrle Innovation Center)
Score: Charleston 3, Johnson C. 0
Records: UC (12-2; 0-0 MEC), JCU (1-3; 0-0 CIAA)
How It Happened:
UC got off to a hot start, winning 14 of the first 20 points in the match. The Golden Eagles would continue to dominate in this set and take the set 25-9 on a kill by Sage Bearnson. The second set was much of the same for UC, as they created a 15-5 lead before going on to take the set 25-8. The third set was once again more UC dominance, as they stormed out to a massive 14-6 lead. This cushion was enough to go on to take the third set 25-11 and the match 3-0.
The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Bearnson with 10 kills. Maria Hernandez dished out 26 assists in the victory. Defensively, Erin Carmody led the way with 16 digs.

Location: Charleston, W.Va. (Russell and Martha Wehrle Innovation Center)
Score: Charleston 3, Central State 0
Records: UC (12-2; 0-0 MEC), CSU (0-7; 0-1 SIAC)
How It Happened:
UC would look to continue this momentum into the nightcap against Central State University. Charleston held Central State to single digits in all three sets, winning the sets 25-6, 25-8, 25-8.
The Golden Eagles were led offensively by McKenzie Carpenter, McKenzie Damon, and Bearnson whom all tallied 7 kills. Hernandez dished out 20 assists and Carmody led the way defensively with 14 digs.

UC enters conference play with a 13-2 record and will kick-off league play on Tuesday at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
