Steubenville, Ohio – Men's Golf recorded their highest finish of the fall season during the West Liberty Invite, placing third overall with a 912 combined score in the two day tournament.

The West Liberty Invite, hosted at Steubenville Country Club, is the final tournament prior to the MEC Championships. UC has struggled early in the season to gain traction in tournament standings but gained momentum heading into next weekend with their third place finish.

The highlight of the tournament was undoubtedly the performance by senior, Cole Darbyshire. The Tampa carved through the 6,600 yard course and finished second overall shooting +4 over 54 holes. After shooting +1 on the first 36 holes on Monday and finding himself in first, Darbyshire carded a 75 on Tuesday to finish in second place behind Davis & Elkins' Jordan Hyland. Competing as an individual, he tallied 12 birdies which was tied with Hyland for the most in the field over 54 holes. Â Â
Pau Sanchez, the freshman from Spain was the most consistent of the team for the weekend carding back to back 75s on Monday and a 74 on Tuesday. He finished in 7
th in the overall standings.

Aussie freshman Rory Gorman finished tied for 10
th after posting a 75 in rounds one and three sandwiched by a 78 in round two.
