Charleston Victorious at Home, Defeating Glenville 91-83

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—University of Charleston Men's Basketball picks up another win in the Wehrle Innovation Center, as they defeat Glenville State University (1-3, 1-1 MEC) 91-83 to improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain East Conference. 

The Basics:

How it Happened:
The first half of the game was a nail biter with both Glenville and Charleston trading buckets until the very end. DeAirius Barker and Tyler Eberhart led the Golden Eagles with Barker collecting 11 points with three three-pointers, a field goal percentage of 0.667, a steal and an assist, while Eberhart collected 10 points with a field goal percentage of 0.500 and a block. Dwaine Jones also played a big part in the first half with four assists, seven points and a field goal percentage of .600. Charleston concluded the first half leading 49-42.

Eddie Colbert III started the second half off strong for the Golden Eagles with a three-pointer assisted by Eberhart. Eberhart then went on to steal two points on a jump shot, followed up by another three-pointer by Keaton Turner to make the score 57-42. Despite keeping it a close game, the Glenville State Pioneers could not catch up to the Golden Eagles, falling to them 91-83. The second half featured a steal by Obinna Ugwuakazi, a block by Shunta Wilson and a three-pointer by CJ Meredith

The Golden Eagle offense was led by Turner, as he shot four three-pointers in eight attempts with a field goal percentage of .500 and an assist in 31 minutes played. Defensively, Ugwuakazi took charge with three steals, a block, four rebounds and only two personal fouls in 15 minutes of play.

Charleston will hit the road on November 29 to face Frostburg State University (1-4, 1-1 MEC) in the Bobcat Arena at 7:30pm for another MEC match up.
