How it Happened:
Charleston started the tri-match off strong by downing Kentucky State in straight sets. In set one, the Golden Eagles scored the first few points, but the teams began trading sideouts until Charleston pulled ahead 18-9 on a six-point service run by Emma Shepherd. The Golden Eagles went on to win the frame 25-13 on kills by Kate Strong, Pia Selke, Riley Hoff and Sage Bearnson.

Charleston secured the first two points of set two on a kill by Reagan McLean an attack error by the Thorobreds. The Golden Eagles then jolted to a 13-2 lead with Thorobred errors, a service ace by Abby Avila and kills by Shepherd and McLean. UC kept the momentum going and sealed the 25-12 set two victory on a kill and service ace by Shepherd.
