Charleston Cruises Past Bloomsburg Huskies with 107-66 Victory

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — University of Charleston Men's Basketball defeats Bloomsburg University (2-6, 0-2 PSAC) 107-66 at home to improve to 7-2 on the season.

The Basics:

How it Happened:
Eddie Colbert III and Tyler Eberhart led the Golden Eagles to their seventh victory of the season, as Colbert III scored 21 points while Eberhart scored 20. Colbert III had three assists and seven rebounds, while shooting 64 percent from the floor, while Eberhart was also hot with two assists, four rebounds and a field goal percentage of 78 percent. Shunta Wilson took charge of Charleston's defense with three steals, a block and six rebounds.

In the first half, Charleston came out hot, as a layup by Freddie Word and a three-pointer by DeAirius Barker gave the Golden Eagles the early lead. Word went on and collected two more points on another layup, followed by a steal by Dwaine Jones that led to a Eberhart trey. Despite their best efforts, the Huskies could not catch up, and Charleston closed out the half leading 53-29. 

Bloomsburg started the second half with a layup to chip away at the deficit, but the Golden Eagles followed it up with four straight baskets of their own by Colbert III, Jones and Word to make the score 61-31. Like the first half, Charleston continued to chug along, leading all the way to the end to give them the 107-66 victory over the Huskies. The second half featured dunks by Obinna Ugwuakazi and Wilson and three-pointers by Colbert III, Word, and Cameron Marks.

The Golden Eagles will start the new year in Lakewood, New Jersey, as they take on Georgian Court University (1-7, 0-1 CACC) on January 2 at 2pm in the GCU Wellness Center.
