Charleston, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles defeated the Senators of Davis & Elkins College 105-66 in the Saturday afternoon Mountain East Conference matchup.

How it Happened:
After winning the tipoff, the Senators opened the contest with a layup to take the early lead over the Golden Eagles. Charleston's
Keith Williams responded with a three, but the Senators responded right back with another layup. The 4-3 Davis & Elkins lead with 18:32 left to play in the first half was the last time the Senators were ahead of Charleston in the contest. For the next few minutes, the Golden Eagles outscored the Senators 18-9, taking the 21-10 lead at the under fifteen media timeout. The Charleston lead continued to grow, taking a 26-point advantage with 6:26 left to play. The Senators battled back, cutting the deficit by ten, but Charleston headed to the locker room at the half leading 52-36.
The Golden Eagles shot an impressive 59.38% in the first half going 9-13 from beyond the arc.
Charleston opened the scoring in the second half with a layup by
Tyler Eberhart and followed by a three from
CJ Meredith after a Senator turnover. Davis and Elkins responded with a three of their own, but for the two minutes following, the scoring was dead silent as both teams struggled offensively. As the clock neared the under fifteen media timeout the teams woke back up and both sides traded buckets. For the next seven minutes both sides traded several shots, Charleston maintaining their lead over the Senators, taking the 76-52 lead at the seven-minute mark.
Charleston kicked it into high gear for the next two minutes, outscoring the opponent 11-3 and increasing their lead to 32 with just five minutes left to play. Both teams began to empty the benches, getting several new faces on the court for the remaining minutes of the contest. The Charleston offense continued to shine, eventually outscoring the Senators by 39 points when the final buzzer sounded.
Twelve Golden Eagles saw the court in the 105-66 victory. Charleston shot 56.7% with 52 points coming off the bench.
Eddie Colbert III had a double-double with 25 points and 10 boards. Five other Golden Eagles had double digit points in the game including
