West Liberty, W.Va. – Charleston fell to the Hilltoppers of West Liberty in the one versus two matchup of the Mountain East Conference on Saturday afternoon by a score of 94-77.

How it Happened:
After losing the tipoff, Charleston quickly fell 0-6 in the first three minutes of the game. Charleston spent the next three minutes trailing the Hilltoppers, bringing the game back to even at 7-7. After Charleston tied up the contest, West Liberty began to pull away, going on a 14-2 run, 23-9 with 11:09 left in the half. The next few buckets were traded back and forth but the Hilltoppers maintained their lead with Charleston still trailing by fourteen with 4:39 left to play. The Hilltoppers went on to outscore the Golden Eagles 10-4 in the remaining minutes of the half, Charleston heading into the locker room trailing by twenty, 44-24 WLU.
Charleston came out for the second half needing to cut the deficit, but the Hilltoppers stayed hot and maintained their lead with Charleston trailing by twenty-four at the first media timeout. Charleston went on a 10-2 run of their own after the timeout, but the Golden Eagles still had work to do as they still trailed by sixteen. Within sixteen is as close as the Hilltoppers would let Charleston get as they cruised to the final buzzer 94-77.
Tyler Eberhart led the Golden Eagles with 21 points and 6 rebounds to accompany their team shooting percentage of 45.8%.
