Charleston, W. Va – The Golden Eagles rounded out their weekend with a matchup against the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets in the Capital City. Both the men's and women's teams of Charleston came into this matchup with crushing wins over the Senators of Davis & Elkins just two days prior.

Women
Over the last several seasons, Charleston and West Virginia State have played incredibly even, splitting eight matches in the last four years; however, this year proved to be different as Charleston found their rhythm early on.
The women began strong by sweeping doubles 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in one through three doubles. Balancho at #6 singles notched the first singles point followed by Cameron at #4. Both would win in straight sets. It was Krasikova who clinched the match at second singles 6-0, 7-6. Singh (#1) and Larson (#3) both won in straight sets to put the match at 6-0. The lone loss on the day was Hondiashvilla (#5) who lost 6-4, 5-7, 11-9.
The win over the Yellow Jackets moves the Golden Eagles to 12-1 on the year.
Following the match, assistant coach Matt Santen praised the squad for their performance.
"The women played very well today. We put ourselves in great shape to win the conference."
Soffia Krasikova was named Player of the Match after icing the victory for Charleston with her singles win.

Men
The Golden Eagles dug deep into their depth chart to take out their cross town rival. Charleston jumped out to a quick lead taking the doubles point with a clean sweep of 6-3, 6-2, 6-1. The nationally ranked duo of Lenny Stevens and Jowan Rawson remained undefeated in dual matches, extending their win streak to 12-0.
In singles, the Golden Eagles made quick work of the Yellow Jackets winning 2
nd through 6
th singles in straight sets. Garcia provided the clinch point at number 2 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Jack Bowman, the junior from Winfield, WV was named player of the match in the number 6 singles after not dropping a single game the entire match.
"The win today speaks to the depth of this team," said Coach Alec Foote.

The men's team for Charleston will be on the road tomorrow as they will take on Radford University on March 28
th at 1:00 PM. The women's team will hit the road as well, but on Saturday as they take on Slippery Rock on April 1
st at 1:00 PM.
