Golden Eagles Advance to Tennis Nationals with Win over Bluefield State

The Charleston, Golden Eagles are returning to the sweet 16's of the NCAA tournament for the third time in as many years. Here's how it happened.

Charleston jumped out quickly in the doubles taking third doubles by a score of 6–0. Both the second doubles team in the first doubles team had commanding leads, but it was the second doubles duo of Giesberts and Garcia who clinched the doubles point by a score of 6-3.

I will steam of despairs and Garcia clinched the devils .63 win.

In singles play, Charleston took the first set at first ,second, third, fifth, and sixth singles. Winning five of six first sets it was a race to see who would notch the next three points for the Golden Eagles. It was Jowan Rawson at third singles who gave Charleston their second point. John Giesberts gave Charleston third point at first singles. It was Marcelo Pinto at fifth singles who clinched the match and the birth to the Sweet 16 Nationals in Orlando Florida.

Man of the match goes to Marcelo who didn't lose game in doubles and clinched the match at 5th singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

"This was a good Bluefield State team but we came prepared and took care of business," said Head Coach Alec Foote after the match. "Our intensity and execution was excellent today."
