BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Charleston golf standouts Iciar Canalejo and Erik Ulvang were named this week's Mountain East Conference Golfers of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The MEC Golfer of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Canalejo, a freshman from Spain, finished 10^th at the NC4K Invitational in Columbus earlier this week. Her second round 71 was the lowest in program history by a University of Charleston player. In fact, she is also the first UC player to shoot under-par in a round with her 71.
 
Ulvang, a sophomore from Sweden, finished fourth after firing three-consecutive rounds under par during the West Liberty Invitational earlier this week in Wheeling. He shot an opening round 71 with five birdies, before shooting a four-under par 67 in round two. In the front nine of his second round, Ulvang shot five-under with an eagle and four birdies. He shot a two-under (69) in his final round.
