CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston women's volleyball team took down Fairmont State in four sets (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 25-19) on Thursday afternoon at the Wehrle Innovation Center. With the win, Charleston improved to 16-6 overall and 6-2 in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.

How it Happened:
Emma Shepherd led the Golden Eagles with 16 kills, hitting .250 and finishing with 17.5 points. Riley Hoff added 10 kills and three service aces, contributing 16 points overall. Kate Strong was also a key player with eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Charleston started strong, taking the first set 25-21. They kept up the momentum in the second set, overcoming Fairmont State 25-22 thanks to efficient attacking and only three errors. Fairmont State fought back in the third set, winning 25-18, but Charleston responded in the fourth set with a dominant 25-19 performance, hitting .275 to seal the victory.

The Golden Eagles will head to Pittsburgh, Pa., to face Point Park University on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. as they look to continue their strong form in non-conference play.
