ATHENS, W.Va. — University of Charleston Women's Volleyball (11-5, 1-2 MEC) came up short in a closely contested five-set match against Concord University (7-9, 2-1 MEC), 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21, 8-15), Friday night at the Carter Center. The Golden Eagles battled back and forth but couldn't hold off the Mountain Lions in the decisive fifth set.

How it Happened:
After dropping the first set 21-25, Charleston responded with a strong second set, winning 25-21, led by Emma Shepherd, who finished with 15 kills on the night. The Golden Eagles kept the pressure on in the third set but narrowly fell 22-25. They rallied once again in the fourth set, winning 25-21 to force a fifth set. Despite their efforts, Charleston was unable to maintain momentum, falling 8-15.
Pia Selke added 10 kills and three blocks, while setter Abby Avila contributed 20 assists and 10 digs. Chloe Fortner anchored the defense with 16 digs as the Golden Eagles look to regroup in their upcoming matches.
