Charleston Sweeps Davis & Elkins in Commanding Volleyball Showdown

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston women's volleyball team dominated Davis & Elkins (4-8, 0-4 MEC) in straight sets (25-13, 25-16, 25-8) on Tuesday evening at the Wehrle Innovation Center, improving to 12-5 overall and 2-2 in the Mountain East Conference.

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles were led by a powerful offensive display from Riley Hoff, who recorded 15 kills on 32 attempts with a .375 hitting percentage. Hoff's contributions helped Charleston jump to early leads in each set and maintain control throughout the match. Pia Selke also stood out with a near-flawless performance, contributing 10 kills without a single error, hitting .667, and adding four blocks.
 
Charleston came out strong in the first set, with Hoff and Selke leading the attack. The Golden Eagles hit .416 as a team, compared to just .095 for Davis & Elkins, and cruised to a 25-13 win. Set two saw more balance from the Golden Eagles' offense as Emma Shepherd added six kills and Patrycja Majos chipped in four. Charleston held off the Senators for a 25-16 set victory.
 
The third set was all Charleston as they held Davis & Elkins to just eight points. The Golden Eagles continued their defensive dominance, recording a total of 10 blocks in the match, led by Kate Strong, who contributed seven kills and three blocks while hitting a perfect 1.000.
 
Charleston finished the match with a .416 hitting percentage as a team while holding the Senators to just .095. With this win, the Golden Eagles extend their momentum as they continue MEC play.

The Golden Eagles will host another MEC matchup on Friday, October 11 at 7pm versus Glenville State University (3-11, 1-3 MEC).
