BELMONT, N.C.— Despite strong performances from several key players, the University of Charleston (11-4, 1-1 MEC) dropped a four-set match (16-25, 25-15, 24-26, 17-25) to Belmont Abbey College (4-8, 2-1 CC) on Thursday evening at the Wheeler Center.

How it Happened:
After a slow start in the first set, the Golden Eagles bounced back with an impressive second set, dominating 25-15 to level the match. Patrycja Majos led Charleston with 10 kills, while Kate Strong was a standout, recording a perfect six kills on six attempts.
In a tightly contested third set, Charleston narrowly fell 24-26, despite their best efforts. The Golden Eagles continued to battle in the fourth set but were unable to close the gap, falling 17-25. Setter Abby Avila provided steady support with 16 assists and 10 digs, while Chloe Fortner anchored the defense with 11 digs.

The Golden Eagles will look to build on these individual performances as they return to conference play today, Friday, October 4, versus the Concord Mountain Lions. The match will be held in the Carter Center in Athens, West Virginia at 7pm.
