Charleston, W.Va. – Charleston defeated the Virginia Union Panthers in a Wednesday evening non-conference match.

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles took a quick and early lead over the Panthers, jumping out 20-6 as the teams headed to the first media timeout. Charleston was electric from the arc early on in the game, shooting 6 of 6 for the early advantage. In the next several minutes, Charleston hit three more three-pointers, increasing their lead to 29-10 with just over eleven minutes in the half.
In the next ten minutes of play, the Virginia Union Panthers started to inch their way back into the contest, scoring 27 and cutting the deficit to just a five-point Charleston lead.
Charleston shot 77% from the beyond the arc, hitting 10 of 13 threes. CJ Meredith was 4-4 from long range.
Entering the second half, Charleston extended their lead to ten, all five of Charleston's early second half points coming from Obinna Ugwuakazi.
The Golden Eagles would continue to increase their lead, eventually the clock winding down in favor of the Golden Eagles.
Charleston scored the first points of the game and kept the lead for the entirety of the match.
CJ Meredith led the Golden Eagle offense, scoring 27 points, 21 coming from three-pointers.
Point guard Dwaine Jones distributed the ball well, picking up 12 assists in the victory.
