EMORY, Va. (Nov. 2) — University of Charleston Women's Volleyball (21-6, 9-2 MEC) celebrated Head Coach Tyler Kanelos' 100th career win on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over Emory & Henry University (4-19, 1-12 SAC) at the John Rutledge King Center. Charleston claimed the match 25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 25-13 in a commanding performance that further showcased their depth and versatility.
How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles opened the first set with a strong showing, securing a 25-15 win through efficient offense and solid defense. Although Emory & Henry rallied to take the second set 25-22, Charleston responded with a decisive 25-15 third set victory, regaining control of the match. The Golden Eagles closed out the fourth set 25-13, with standout performances on both offense and defense.
Emma Shepherd led the attack with 23 kills on a .362 hitting percentage, adding 13 digs and one block assist to her standout performance. Riley Hoff contributed 14 kills and nine digs, while Patrycja Majos added eight kills and two solo blocks. Setter Abby Avila facilitated Charleston's offense with 18 assists, while Chloe Fortner anchored the back row with 15 digs.
