How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles and the Cedarville Yellow Jackets got off to a slow start in the Saturday afternoon contest. Charleston took the initial lead, 5-0 after several free throws and a layup from Obinna Ugwuakazi. After two minutes of play, the Yellow Jackets got on the board with a three to bring the score to 5-3. The teams then traded buckets back and forth for several minutes until Cedarville jumped out to a seven-point lead with about twelve minutes left in the half.

The Golden Eagles fought hard and cut the deficit to just two-points as the under-five media timeout rolled around. Keaton Turner then giving Charleston the lead with back-to-back threes to go ahead 36-32. The Yellow Jackets then evened the score at 38-38 with 18 seconds left in the half, but Charleston found a late layup by Ugwuakazi as the buzzer sounded for the half, heading to the locker room leading 40-38.

The teams traded points for the first five minutes of the second half, the score at 50-50 at the first media timeout. The next two minutes were scoreless, Charleston eventually breaking the tie with a three from Trevor Barrett.

Both squads continued to trade points back and forth for the next several minutes, but back-to-back-to-back threes from Cedarville at the six-minute mark gave the Yellow Jackets the slight advantage, leading 73-64. Charleston's CJ Meredith then went a little run of his own, scoring the next six points and bringing Charleston back within reach, now trailing 76-72.

As time continued to run, the Golden Eagles were forced to foul the Yellow Jackets, Cedarville hit their shots and eventually claimed the victory 86-77.
