How it Happened:
The Charleston Golden Eagles and the Hilltoppers of West Liberty were in a back in forth battle in the first half of play in the Wednesday night contest. The Hilltoppers looked a tad sloppy compared to their usual play, but the Golden Eagles took the advantage and ended the half with a three-point lead, 30-27.
 
The first ten minutes of the second half were a battle with both teams trading buckets back and forth, keeping the score close. Just after the under ten media timeout that all changed as West Liberty went on a 17-2 run to open the margin and take the advantage 68-53 with just under three minutes left to play.
 
The Golden Eagles fought their way back to only trailing by six, but with just thirty seconds left on the clock, Charleston ran out of time and fell to the Hilltoppers 76-70.
 
Zach Loveday led the Golden Eagles with a double-double, 17 points and 11 rebounds.
