Charleston, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles drop two games to the Red Flash of Saint Francis University in a two-game series at home.

How it Happened:
Game 1:
Set one of the match was close ending in favor of Saint Francis 28-26, despite Charleston's higher hitting percentage, .258% compared to .128%. The set was point for point with neither team having more than a three-point lead at any point. UC had set point at 26-25, but the Red Flash strung together a pair of kills followed by a service ace to take a close first set victory.
The Golden Eagles struggled in the second set, falling 9-2 early in on, and again 13-4 after several errors. Charleston replied with an 8-2 scoring run to bring the set within three points, trailing 15-12 to the Red Flash. Despite their efforts to get back into the set, Saint Francis went on to take the set 25-20.
The third set close with the teams trading side outs back and forth until the turning point in the set when the Red Flash took a six-point lead that could not be overcome late in the contest. Trailing 21-15, Charleston scored back-to-back-to-back points to get within grab of Saint Francis, but the Red Flash responded with a three-point run to take the game to match point. Saint Francis went on to take the set 25-20 and close out the match in three sets.

How it Happened:
Game 2:
Charleston dropped the first two sets of Saturdays match, 25-20 and 25-21. The Golden Eagles struggled on offense with a combined 19 kills and 13 errors in the two sets compared to Saint Francis' 32 kills and only 4 errors.
The Golden Eagles turned things around in set three taking the set victory by a score of 25-29 with a .333 hitting percentage and 12 kills. Garret Schnitker led the Golden Eagles with 8 kills in the third set alone.
Despite the Golden Eagles third set turnaround, Charleston fell in an extended fourth set 26-24. The Red Flash tallied 17 kills in the set which could not be match by Charleston.
Schnitker had 19 kills and Paul Stommel had 32 kills in the four set match.
