Golden Eagles Defeat Concord 93-55 to Advance to Atlantic Region Semifinal

How it Happened:
With the stage set, the Golden Eagles were ready to face off with a familiar opponent in the Mountain Lions of Concord University. Charleston lost the tip but got stops of Concord's first and second possessions of the game before Eddie Colbert III nailed a three for the first points of the contest. At the 16-minute media timeout, Charleston lead Concord 9-6 with DeAirius Barker headed to the charity stripe.
 
After Barker drained two free throws, Charleston proceeded to outscore the Mountain Lions 10-4 before the next media timeout at 11:53, Charleston leading 21-10. In the first eight minutes of play, Charleston forced five Mountain Lion turnovers and a Concord shooting percentage of 44% from the field.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to dominate, going on an eight-point scoring run to increase their lead to 29-10 as the teams headed to the bench for the under eight media timeout, Dwaine Jones headed to line for a one and one opportunity. Jones was not able to convert, but the Golden Eagles quickly got the ball back with a defensive board followed by Obinna Ugwuakazi drawing a foul and putting two more on the board for the Golden Eagles.
 
At the under four media timeout the Golden Eagles controlled with a 37-17 lead over the Mountain Lions. Charleston tacked on 11 more points before the halftime buzzer, heading into the locker room up 48-22 over Concord.
 
In the first half, Charleston shot 62% from the field compared to Concords 32%. The Golden Eagles forced 11 Concord turnovers and picked up 15 defensive boards to propel them to a 26-point advantage over the Mountain Lions.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to maintain control of the game, extending their led to 66-35 at the under 16 media timeout. Eddie Colbert III off to a hot start in the second half with three three-pointers in the first six minutes.
 
At the under eight media timeout the Golden Eagles led 84-41, continuing to put on a clinic and shooting 65%.
 
Charleston went on to close out the contest 93-55 over Concord. Eddie Colbert III had 18 points while Dwaine Jones had 12 points with six board and six assists.

Charleston will face Cal PA tomorrow evening at 7:30 PM for the Atlantic Region Semifinal.
