Crestview Hills, KY – The Golden Eagles would head west to face the Saints of Thomas More University for a Wednesday afternoon battle at Republic Bank Field. The Saints sought after their first win of the year, while Charleston aimed at getting back on track with a win on the road.

How It Happened
The Saints would start the game just the way they had drawn it up, scoring the opening three goals of the game to take a three-score lead just six minutes in. They would win the draw control battle in the first period 5-2 over Charleston allowing for them to take the quick lead. The visitors would wake up from their slow start and respond with seven unanswered goals with three of them coming from Madison Partridge. After scoring three in the first quarter to head into the second period level at 3-3, that's when Charleston took their first lead of the game with Darby Stolz's first goal of the game just thirty seconds into the second. The Golden Eagles proceeded to score three more, as Tess Yuhas' would give Charleston the 7-3 advantage. The Saints would end the drought after Alexis Denman found an unassisted goal at the 9:52 mark of the quarter. Ella Russano and CJ Cook would match and raise Denman's goal to extend their lead at 9-4.
Approaching the end of the half, Charleston found five more goals in the final five minutes to take a 15-5 lead into the locker room. Up to this point in the game, the Golden Eagles had fired off eight more shots than the Saints. Charleston had also forced 14 turnovers from Thomas More, creating more opportunities on offense.
Charleston followed up their first half performance by shutting out Thomas More in the third quarter, scoring three goals and adding to their lead. In the fourth period, Charlotte Whitley and Partridge scored the final two goals of the game for the 19-5 lead with time continuously winding off the clock. Despite two goals from the Saints in the later stages, Charleston would take the dominant 19-7 victory on the road.
