How It Happened
The last time the Golden Eagles defeated the Falcons was back on April 25th of 2019.

Charleston has played fast in the first quarter all season long and they continued the streak of fast play on Wednesday, scoring the opening goal just under two minutes into the match. Madison Partridge would find a goal assisted by Tess Yuhas for the early 1-0 advantage. Notre Dame would knot the game at 1-1 after an unassisted goal from Jovie Noack, but Charleston was only getting started. Gianni Blundell, Darby Stolz, and Partridge gave Charleston three more goals within two and a half minutes for the 4-1 lead. Just before the end of the quarter, Grace Nickoloff and Joselyn Storm found back-to-back goals to cut the lead to 4-3 going into the second quarter. Notre Dame fired back quickly with the one-two punch midway through the second with goals from Nickoloff and Storm once more for their first lead of the game at 5-4. The Golden Eagles would take the advantage right back with goals from Blundell and Lospitalier to take the 6-5 lead. The final goal of the first half knotted the game up at 6-6 after Gwen Bogash's score at the 4:41 mark to give Notre Dame the momentum heading into the locker room.

The two sides would exchange lead changes in the third quarter, with Charleston taking the first after Lospitalier and Blundell found the back of the cage once more for the 8-6 second half lead. Notre Dame found their first lead of the half after a goal from Noack and two from Storm for the 9-8 lead at the 3:32 mark of the third quarter. Madison Partridge would send the game into the fourth quarter with all sides level with her goal late in the third period to tie the game at 9-9.

Partridge continued to find rhythm with her shot as she would add two more to Charleston's total, both off of the Lospitalier assist. Her fifth of the game would give the Golden Eagles an 11-9 lead with 10:19 left to play. The Freshman in Hayden Slinkard found her first of the day in a large manner to maintain Charleston's two-goal lead with five minutes left to play. The Falcons would put together two goals late in the game from Cameron Briggs and Gwen Bogash to level the game for the seventh time with 2:23 left to play.

It would be Tess Yuhas that proved to be the difference as she would take the unassisted shot with 1:32 left to go and find the net for the go-ahead score at 13-12. With seconds left on the clock, the Falcons would have one last improbable chance to level the game, but Grate Rotter's shot would sail high and the Golden Eagles would hang on for the 13-12 over Notre Dame.
