Wheeling, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles suffered a loss to the Wheeling Cardinals on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles got on the board first in the road contest with the Wheeling Cardinals. After giving up a three pointer to the Cardinals, the Golden Eagles responded with a layup to take the lead back and did not trail for the remainder of the half. Charleston held an eight-point lead at one moment in the half, but ended the half at the buzzer with a three-point advantage over the Cardinals.
Both teams shot relatively the same in the first half, Charleston slightly better at 44% compared to Wheeling's 41%.
Charleston held their lead for the first several minutes of the half, but 16:23 the Cardinals gained the lead and held it for the next ten minutes of play. The Cardinals led Charleston by ten points at one point in the half, but the Golden Eagles clawed their way back and knotted the scoring at 68-68 with 2:13 left to play.
Despite tying the contest, the Golden Eagles fell to the Cardinals, getting outscored 9-2 in the remaining minutes of play.
Ja'Corey Lipkins scored 26 points for the Golden Eagles, shooting 6-12 (50%) from beyond the arc.
