CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston earned a statement win at the Wehrle Innovation Center, defeating Concord University 3–1. The victory handed the Mountain Lions just their second loss of the season. Set scores were 25–27, 25–20, 25–13, and 25–15.

How it Happened:
Charleston opened the night in stride but narrowly dropped the first set 27–25 after a late Concord push.
UC answered with authority in set two. Leading 12–11, the Golden Eagles rattled off a 6–0 run capped by back-to-back kills from Patrycja Majos and Julie Michalkova to stretch the margin to 18–11. Concord trimmed it to 22–20, but Charleston held strong with three straight points to close 25–20 and even the match.
The Golden Eagles dominated the third set from start to finish. Tied 3–3, UC went on a blistering 10–1 run powered by kills from Majos and Sophia Knowles, extending the lead to 13–4. They never looked back, piling on another 6–0 spurt to reach 22–10 before finishing 25–13.
Momentum carried into the fourth. After Concord took an early 6–4 edge, Charleston flipped the frame with seven unanswered points. Michalkova added two aces during the surge, while Majos and Knowles provided the finishing touches. UC pushed the lead to double digits at 21–11 and sealed the match 25–15, handing the Mountain Lions their second loss of the year.
On offense
Charleston was led by Patrycja Majos who tallied 18 kills, four aces, and 23 total points. Julie Michalkova followed with 15 kills, two aces, and 18 digs, while Sophia Knowles added 14 kills on a .364 hitting percentage. At the net, setter Abby Avila distributed 57 assists while also picking up 14 digs.
Defensively
libero Chloe Fortner anchored the back row with 25 digs, while Michalkova chipped in 18 and Avila recorded 14 of her own. Matea Cunningham also made her presence felt with nine digs.
