Athens, W.Va. – The University of Charleston volleyball team picked up another key conference win Friday night, defeating Concord in straight sets inside the Carter Center. The Golden Eagles controlled the pace from start to finish, closing out the match 3-0 behind a dominant offensive performance.

How it Happened:
Charleston came out fast in the opening set, jumping ahead early before Concord regrouped to tie the score 5-5. Both sides traded points until late in the set when the Mountain Lions held a narrow two-point lead. The Golden Eagles responded with a dominant six-point run to regain control, and a kill from Julie Michalkova sealed the set 25-23 as UC went up 1-0.
In set two, UC carried their momentum, racing to an early 8-2 advantage. Concord battled back to even the score at 11-11, but the Golden Eagles caught fire down the stretch outscoring the Mountain Lions 14-8 behind several clutch kills from Divine Muo, securing a 25-19 win and a 2-0 match lead.
Nobody predicted a sweep, but UC kept charging in the third set, taking the first point and never looking back. The Golden Eagles held the lead throughout and closed the door with a 6-1 run to end the match 25-18. Muo capped her night with two more kills to finish the Mountain Lions. That made her 18th of the match as Charleston completed the 3-0 sweep.
Offensive Leaders:
Divine Muo led the way with 18 kills, followed by Julie Michalkova with 8 and Kate Strong with 7. Abby Avila paced the offense with 44 assists and added an ace.
Defensive Leaders:
Chloe Fortner anchored the back row with 18 digs, while Strong added 5 blocks and Muo finished with 3.
