Lane Weismiller got things started with a one out single and then came around to score on a Damian Witty hit. Witty then came around to score on a groundout and an error. Evan Ulrich then delivered the final punch with a solo homerun.

Later in the inning, a Falcon launched a two-run homer, giving the Fairmont State a 3-1 advantage.

Charleston cut the deficit to one in the third with an RBI single from Ryan Comella, but Fairmont State maintained the lead until the sixth, when the visiting Golden Eagles tied it at three with a solo home run from Samuel Lemond.

The Falcons responded in the bottom half, capitalizing on back-to-back errors to plate two runs and take a 5-3 lead heading into the final inning of regulation. However, the Golden Eagles surged ahead with four runs on five hits, making it 7-5 in the top of the seventh.

Down to their last out with a runner on, Fairmont State found their clutch moment as a Falcon blasted a two-run homer, sending the game to extra innings.
