Charleston Dropped Four Games this Past Weekend

Charleston, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles dropped two pairs of doubleheaders this past weekend.
 
GAME 1
 
The Basics:
Location: Welch Athletic Complex
Score: UC 2,PPU 5
Records: Charleston 10-15 (5-4 MEC), Point Park 18-6 (8-1 MEC)
 
How it Happened:
Point Park Pioneers opened the scoring in the first after Joseph Pilewski singled, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, Charleston went back into the lead after Trent Dosenbach homered to right field, and Samuel Lemond singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Jared Campbell doubled to left field on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, which helped Point Park Pioneers tie the game at two in the top of the third.

A single by Chris Williams gave Point Park Pioneers the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fourth.

Javier Cardoso II earned the win for Point Park Pioneers. The hurler allowed six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Tyson Willis pitched four innings in relief for Charleston. The hurler allowed three hits and three runs (one earned) while, striking out three and walking one. Campbell Spradling took the loss for Charleston. The hurler went two and one-third innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking three. Ethan Parker earned the save.

Charleston's Lemond, the number eight hitter, led Charleston with two hits in three at bats.
 
GAME 2
 
The Basics:

How it Happened:
Point Park Pioneers defeated Charleston 10-0 on Saturday at Welch Athletic Complex thanks in part to six runs in the seventh inning.

Point Park Pioneers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Jared Campbell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Joseph Pilewski homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Point Park Pioneers added one run in the second after Trevor Jones scored after tagging up.

Point Park Pioneers scored six runs on four hits in the top of the seventh inning. Omar Morillo hit a solo home run to right field, Isaac Santana singled, scoring one run, Crixtian Taveras doubled, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored three runs.

Harold Boyce earned the win for Point Park Pioneers. The pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking none. Austin Perando took the loss for Charleston. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one.

Lane Weismiller and Evan Ulrich each collected one hit for Charleston.
 
GAME 3
 
The Basics:

How it Happened:
A single by Alex Harper put Salem Tigers on the board in the top of the first.

Tyler Parks grounded out, which helped Charleston tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

A single by Reese Rinna gave Salem Tigers the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.

Charleston tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to an error, and a single by Trent Dosenbach.

In the top of the eighth, Salem Tigers broke up the tie when Xavier "Mac" Crismond induced Jose Lojo to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Then a single by Aiden McMurdo followed to extend the lead to 5-3.

Connor Thiele earned the win for Salem Tigers. The hurler gave up four hits and three runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking four. Crismond took the loss for Charleston. The reliever went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering two runs on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Mason Behn began the game for Charleston. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out none and walking two. Tristan Milik earned the save.

Carter Rust, Evan Ulrich, Dosenbach, and Aiden Brunner each collected one hit for Charleston. Parks and Dosenbach each drove in one run for Charleston. Charleston didn't commit a single error in the field. Ulrich had the most chances in the field with nine.
 
GAME 4

How it Happened:
Salem Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Aiden McMurdo doubled to right field, and Reese Rinna singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Salem Tigers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Ryder Costa singled to center field, Luis Angarita singled down the right field line, and Max Atkinson grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

Eric Kovach earned the win for Salem Tigers. The pitcher surrendered six hits and five runs (four earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Devin Fletcher pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Charleston. The righty allowed five hits and two runs while, striking out five and walking none. Landon Ingram took the loss for Charleston. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, surrendering five runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two.

Trace Hartman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Charleston with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hartman, John Stansbury II, Trent Dosenbach, Caleb Knapp, Aiden Brunner, and Ryan Comella each collected one hit for Charleston. Charleston turned two double plays in the game.
