Score: UC 100, WVWC 58
Records: Charleston 8-6 (4-4 MEC), WV Wesleyan
How it Happened:
From the opening tip, Charleston asserted control — pushing the pace and converting in transition. The Golden Eagles built an early lead behind hot perimeter shooting and pace-controlled offense, forcing Wesleyan to scramble defensively throughout the first half. By halftime, UC had created separation with an efficient offense that disoriented the Wesleyan defense and energized the home crowd. The second half saw Charleston extend its advantage even further, as the Golden Eagles' depth continued to pay dividends. Charleston's scoring was balanced and efficient all night. The Golden Eagles attacked off the dribble, shared the ball well, and converted transition opportunities while dominating the boards. Depth played a key role — with multiple players contributing meaningful minutes and points to sustain relentless offensive pressure. Charleston's up-tempo offense never allowed Wesleyan back into contention.
Matthew Shelton led the Golden Eagles with a standout performance, pouring in 20 points on an efficient 10-of-12 shooting night, showcasing his scoring versatility around the rim and from mid-range. Ben Nicol added 15 points, including five three-pointers, stretching the defense and keeping constant pressure on Wesleyan's perimeter coverage. Kaden Davis contributed 14 points off the bench, providing a spark with his energy and timely shots that kept the momentum firmly with Charleston. Hamilton Campbell ran the offense for Charleston, dishing out 13 assists in his 19 minutes played.
