Golden Eagles Shine in Victory Over Walsh

North Canton, OH - The University of Charleston powered through four competitive sets to take down Walsh University on the road.

The Basics:
Location: Alumni Arena
Score: Charleston 3, Walsh 1
Records: UC (8-8), WU (7-5)

How It Happened:
In set one, Walsh scored the first four points and never gave up that lead. Though Charleston battled and kept it competitive, WU would take the set by a score of 25-22. The second set played out similarly, but this time in favor of Charleston. UC scored the first four points, and that was enough to carry them through the set, gaining as much as a seven point lead before taking the set 25-19. With each team looking for control in set three, scoring was very back-and-forth. Set three featured eleven tied scores and five lead changes. With the score even at 22 apiece the Golden Eagles had back-to-back kills followed by a service ace from Sahana Rajesh to take set three 25-22. Looking to close it out in four sets, Charleston got out to an early 7-2 lead. Walsh stayed within striking distance, but UC continued to find success and ultimately took the final set 25-22. The Golden Eagles got stronger throughout the match, with their hitting percentage increasing with each set.

Kate Strong had a standout performance for the Golden Eagles on the defensive end with 10 total blocks. Jasmine Broberg contributed 13 kills while also adding 15 digs. On the offensive end, London Upchurch had 22 assists and 3 service aces.
