Greensburg, PA - The University of Charleston Golden Eagles opened up competition in the Seton Hill Classic with a big win over West Virginia Wesleyan.

How It Happened:
In set one, Charleston opened with a 5-0 run, which would define the rest of the match. After a bit of back-and-forth scoring, UC ended the set on a 12-1 run, taking it by a score of 25-12. West Virginia Wesleyan responded quickly at the start of set two, going on an 8-1 run to bring the score to 14-9. Charleston, however, would not go down easy, scoring 5 unanswered points at the end of the set to win it 25-22. In set three, the Bobcats put the pressure on once again, taking an early lead. The Golden Eagles stayed resilient, battling back with multiple 5-0 runs, and ultimately closing out the win with a joint block from Kate Strong and Jasmine Broberg.
Divine Muo led the offense with 10 kills with a .692 hitting percentage. Kate Strong added 7 kills at a .875 hitting percentage, as well as 7 blocks. London Upchurch led the match in assists with 19, and Sahana Rajesh led the match with 10 digs. Caydence Franz provided 4 service aces for the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles will continue tournament play on Saturday for Day 2 of the Seton Hill Classic. Charleston will take on Seton Hill University at 12:30 pm, followed by East Stroudsburg University at 3:00 pm.
