The Golden Eagles (18-0-1, 11-0-1 MEC) earned their first NCAA Division II Tournament bid since 2012 and its third appearance in the national tournament in the past five seasons, capturing the No. 1 seed in the Super Region One bracket out of the Atlantic Region, and will play #4 seeded Bloomsburg – with game time set for 7PM on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Schoenbaum Stadium. Charleston is one of 35 teams in the tournament field.

Charleston paved its way to the NCAA Tournament by going unbeaten this season and earning a #1 national ranking. The Golden Eagles captured the MEC Championship after defeating Wheeling Jesuit, 1-0, in the conference finals last Sunday. The Golden Eagles have been dominant this year, outscoring opponents by a 74-9 margin.

Bloomsburg paved its way to the NCAA Tournament by winning seven straight matches from Oct. 17-Nov. 7, the longest winning streak for the Huskies since 2002, while winning 13 matches overall to tie the 1979 squad for the all-time school record. The Huskies reached the PSAC Championship Game after defeating Seton Hill, 1-0, in the conference semifinals last Friday.
The other Super Region One matchup in the Atlantic Region portion of the bracket will see second-seeded Mercyhurst, the PSAC champion, hosting Mountain East Conference (MEC) member Notre Dame (OH).
The winner of first round match will play the winner of Mercyhurst-Notre Dame (OH) in the quarterfinal round. Â
Two to six teams were selected from each of the eight regions. Four teams earned berths from the Atlantic Region – Charleston, Mercyhurst, Notre Dame (OH) and Bloomsburg. Teams from the same region will be paired for first- and/or second-round competition, which will be conducted Nov. 13-16 on campus sites. Third-round/quarterfinals will be held on campus sites and completed by Nov. 23.
The semifinals and final will be played Dec. 4 and 6 at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky, as a part of the 2014 Division II National Championship Fall Festival. The festival is hosted by Bellarmine and the Louisville Sports Commission.
