Youngstown OH- Bryson Dennison (Sutton, WV) won the men's pole vault competition Friday evening and made men's track & field history by becoming the first to qualify for the NCAA championships. Dennison soared to a school record vault of 4.80 meters (15 ft 9 in). Dennison is currently 17th in D2.
David Morales-Perez (Monterrey, Mexico) debuted in the long and triple jumps events. Perez placed 4th in the triple jump with a new school record 14.09 meters and 6th in the long jump at 6.63 meters-also a school record. Christov Cornish (Nassau, Bahamas) placed 9th in triple jump with a personal best of 13.31 meters. Jake Casto (Ripley, WV) 9:17.94 and Josh McClung (Charleston, WV) 9:19.02 both raced to top 20 finishes in the men's 3k. Zack Marcum (Foster, WV) sprinted to a season and conference best time of 49.76 in the men's 400 meter dash finishing 7th. Aaron Elliott (Waverly, OH) broke the school record in shot put with a heave of 14.64 to finish in the top 10.
Diana Casterillo continued her solid freshman track campaign with a top 20 finish in the women's 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.50. Erica Comer was the top finisher in the 400 meter running a strong time of 1:03.89. Kristiana Lopez was the top UC finisher in the 800 meter race with a personal best time of 2:42.31.Maddie McClintic jumped an impressive 4.85 meters in long jump to lead the Golden Eagles.
