Charleston Posts PRs and Records at Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. — The University of Charleston track and field team competed at the highly competitive Raleigh Relays from March 26–28, a premier meet featuring some of the top programs in the country. With strict qualifying standards required for entry, Charleston sent a select group of athletes who delivered strong performances across three days of competition.

Thursday

Charleston opened competition in the men's 1500 meters with a strong showing led by Caleb Gilbert, who set a new personal best of 3:47.90 to finish as the top Golden Eagle in the event. Jules Geffroy-Remot followed with a time of 3:51.35, while Mohamed Ensaad rounded out the group in 3:53.22.

In the men's 5,000 meters, Hugo Hewitt delivered one of the top performances of the weekend, running a personal best of 14:20.32 to win his heat.

Friday

Colette Patti highlighted Friday's action with a record-breaking performance in the women's 100 meters, clocking 11.56 to set a new school record while placing in the top six overall.

On the men's side, Charleston saw a strong group effort in the 400 meters. Alejandro Salgado led the way with a personal best of 47.52, followed by Eric Kreuter in 48.11, Brady Prior in 48.43, and Millar McElrea in 49.85.

Saturday

The men's 4x400 meter relay team—comprised of Salgado, Kreuter, Prior, and McElrea—closed out the meet with a top-10 finish, running 3:13.26, just shy of the program record.

Patti continued her standout weekend in the women's 200 meters, breaking her second school record with a time of 24.13 while finishing among the top 10 in the meet.

Charleston's performances at Raleigh Relays showcased the program's ability to compete against elite national competition, highlighted by multiple personal bests, a heat win, and two school records from Patti.

Charleston returns to action at the Mount Olive Trojan Relays on April 10, with additional competition set for the Birmingham CrossPlex and the Randal Tyson Track Center.
