CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston will honor one of the greatest basketball players in Golden Eagle history, Henry Dickerson, with the retiring of his jersey on Friday, October 6th as part of the 2017 Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The formal jersey retirement ceremony will take place in the H.B. Wehrle Arena at 6:00 p.m. before honoring our 2017 Hall of Fame class. Dickerson's No. 34 jersey will join the four previous retired jersey's of George King, Keith Tyler, Ajamu Gaines and Lisa Lee.  Tickets to the event are still available and can be purchased by calling University of Charleston Athletics at 304-357-4820.  Your ticket will include entry into the jersey retirement ceremony and Hall of Fame induction ceremony along with dinner.
Dickerson was inducted into the Golden Eagle Sports Hall of Fame in 1988 after a successful playing career from 1969-1973. He was named All-WVIAC and All-WVIAC Tournament each of his four seasons as a Golden Eagle. Dickerson finished his career with over 1,800 points and 1,300 rebounds, earning All-American status in his final season with Morris Harvey. He went on to sign as a free agent in NBA, playing for the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks. Following his NBA career, Dickerson made his way to the sideline as a coach, stopping first at his alma mater before going on to coach at NCAA Division I schools, University of Tennessee Chattanooga and North Carolina Central University.
