Charleston Women's T&F Gets First Action of '18 at YSU Collegiate

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Charleston men's and women's indoor track and field returned to competition this past weekend at the YSU Collegiate Invitational hosted by Youngstown State University at the WATTS.
 
More than 1,200 competitors from 27 schools across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III along with several NAIA institutions took to the track in most of the field's first action of 2018.
 
UC hurdler Diana Castillero was the Mountain East's top performer at the meet, finishing 16th overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.48 seconds.  Sprinters Tricht Jocelyn and Jamaicia James each turned in season-best times with Jocelyn running a 26.97 in the 200m and James turned in a time of 1:01.21 in the 400m.  Their times were good for 28th and 23rd respectively overall.
 
Kristiana Sklioutovskaya-Lopez is continuing her solid performance from XC season, running a personal best in the indoor mile of 5:58.  Mica Mathis rounded out the weekend's best performances with a 27th place finish in the weight throw, tossing the weight 12.68m to set a personal best.
 
UC returns to the indoor track next weekend at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, competing in the SPIRE Midwest Track & Field Open.
