Golden Eagles Shine at NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Charleston Track & Field team wrapped up a strong showing at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, held from March 13-15 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, with standout performances on the national stage.

Idiens Races to First Team All-American Recognition in 800m
Sophomore Sam Idiens made a statement in the Men's 800 Meter Run, clocking in at 1:49.40 to secure a third-place finish and All-USTFCCCA First Team All-American honors. His podium finish marks a significant achievement for the young middle-distance runner as he continues to establish himself among the best in Division II.

Huysmans Earns Second Team All-American Honors in 200m
Senior Timber Huysmans delivered an impressive performance in the Men's 200 Meter Dash, finishing 10th overallwith a time of 21.26 seconds. His effort earned him All-USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors, capping off an outstanding indoor season for the veteran sprinter.

McKinney Makes National Debut in Weight Throw
In her first career appearance at nationals, senior Abby McKinney competed in the Women's Weight Throw, placing 17th overall with a mark of 16.27m. Her qualification for the championship meet was a milestone moment, showcasing her dedication and growth throughout her collegiate career.

With two All-American performances and valuable national experience gained, the Golden Eagles look ahead to building on this success as they transition into the outdoor season.
