HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston men's and women's track & field teams dominated the competition at the 2025 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Indoor Track & Field Championships, securing both team titles for the second consecutive year. The Golden Eagles also amassed 30 All-MEC awards across various events.
The women's team claimed its fourth straight indoor championship, scoring 178.5 points to solidify its position as the conference's top program. Junior
Laura Delgado de Torres led the charge, earning both MEC Female Field Athlete of the Year and Meet MVP honors. Senior
Beth Sykes was recognized as the MEC Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, marking her second consecutive season receiving the award.
On the men's side, Charleston continued its dominance by capturing its fourth MEC title in five years. Sophomore middle-distance standout
Sam Idiens was named the MEC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year, while head coach Nick Bias was awarded MEC Coach of the Year for his leadership in guiding both teams to victory.
In addition to the team success, 30 Charleston athletes earned All-MEC honors based on their podium finishes. First-place finishers secured First Team All-MEC recognition, second-place finishers received Second Team All-MEC, and third-place finishers were named All-MEC Honorable Mention.
