Golden Eagles Head to Slippery Rock on Saturday

Charleston, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Men's Basketball team will hit the road on Saturday as they travel to Slippery Rock University to take on the Rockies with tip set for 5:30 p.m. Charleston comes into Saturday following a 92-86 defeat over Malone University in a back-and-forth game that ultimately fell in favor of the Golden Eagles

Charleston improved to 3-0 on the season with a 92-86 victory over Malone University on Wednesday evening at the Wehrle Innovation Center. The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Senior Guard Drew Rackley who finished the game with 26 points, 5 assists, and a career-high six made three-point shots. The game featured 16 lead changes between the teams and was capped off with a dunk from Senior Devon Robinson to keep the Golden Eagles undefeated through three games for the second straight year.

Opponent Outlook:
 
Slippery Rock comes into Saturdays' contest holding a 2-1 record on the season. On Tuesday, the Rockies defeated Penn State Shenango 84-65 and used a 51-32 second-half scoring advantage to cruise past the opposition.
 
The Rock shot 45.5 percent from the field (30-of-66), 44.0 percent from 3-point (11-of-25) and 86.7 percent at the free throw line (13-of-15). SRU posted advantages of 46-38 in total rebounds, 36-20 in points in the paint and 45-22 in bench scoring.
 
Donovan Walker led the way for The Rock with a 19-point, 10 rebound double-double.

The Golden Eagles and Rockies have faced off twice in their history, with the series tied at 1-1. Charleston's last matchup against Slippery Rock came in 2014, when The Rock edged the Golden Eagles 65-62 in the Waco Center Classic. SRU Kelvin Goodwin went 5-for-7 from behind the arc and led all scorers with 17 points while Cameron Dozier led all Charleston scorers with 16 points.
