Box Score Shepherdstown, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Men's Basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season after finishing off the weekend with a buzzer-beating 72-71 victory over the Vulcans of California (PA) on Saturday afternoon. Charleston was led offensively by
Devon Robinson, who finished the game with a double-double, tallying 18 points and 11 rebounds. Overall, Charleston had three players who finished with double figure scoring.
Charleston carried a comfortable eight-point advantage into halftime, leading 33-25 at the break despite shooting just 35% from the field compared to the Vulcans, who converted on 45% of their shot attempts. Charleston would extend that lead to as much as 13 with 17:15 remaining in the contest before the Vulcans mounted a comeback, eventually taking the lead. Field goal percentages improved on both sides in the second half, as Charleston went 13-27 (48.1%) while California (PA) went 12-21 (57.1%).
A combined 42 turnovers between the teams, with 22 for the Golden Eagles, allowed for the Vulcans to tie the game at 68-68 with just over one-minute remaining in the contest. After a turnover by Keith Williams, the Vulcans took a 3-point lead on a bucket from Zyan Collins with 41 seconds remaining.
After a pair of missed free throws from the Vulcans with 15 seconds remaining held the Cal lead at 71-68, Charleston carried the ball down the floor where Robinson would draw a foul with under ten seconds left in the contest. Robinson would miss the front end of the one-and-one before converting on the second to cut the Vulcans lead to 71-69.
Pressure on the pursuing inbound play allowed for California to throw a Hail-Mary style pass down the court for an easy layup before Robinson came out of nowhere for the block. The ball was immediately corralled by

Drew Rackley who leaned into a shot, sinking the three-point buzzer beater for the Charleston victory.
