CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Golden Eagle track and field teams traveled to Lee University in Tennessee to take part in three day's worth of events at a big meet with plenty of good competition. Although they had no individual winners, there was plenty to be happy about. Elise Leveel and Matthew Forrester's performances earned them nominations for MEC athlete of the week. Forrester was honored with the award after running a 14:17.71 5k.

Coach Nick Bias' thoughts on the events:

"I'm very proud of my team and the way we competed this weekend.  The weather was less than ideal with temperatures not reaching 50 degrees all weekend and dealing with very windy/blustery conditions with sleet too. 
The competition was very high and that's just what we needed to continue our season competing at a high level as well.  We had two new school records (1500m-Lily Dowdell & 10,000 meters-Elise Leveel),  two NCAA provisional qualifying times (10,000 meters-Leveel & 5,000 meters-Matthew Forrester) and many personal/season best times to highlight our weekend. 
We will now turn our attention to our home meet this coming weekend where will put our final touches on tuning up for our MEC Championships in two weeks.  
 
We will have about 10-12 teams competing which should make for a very fun and competitive meet.  We will also honor our senior track & field athletes during the meet which will be a special moment as well."
