Harrogate, Tenn. – The Charleston men's tennis team went 1-1 on the weekend in Tennessee. The Golden Eagles fell to the Pioneers of Tusculum University and then bounced back to defeat Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.

How it Happened:
The men's tennis team suffered a tough lost to the Tusculum Pioneers. Tusculum went up 1-0 by taking the doubles point 2 matches to 0.
Tusculum won the fourth singles position extending the lead to 2-0. Stevens brought the match closer with a three-set win at number six singles. Tusculum then clinched the match with wins at first and second singles. Charleston brought it to a close final score of 3-4 with wins by
Vicente Garcia and
Marcelo Mifano Pinto at third and fifth singles respectively.
Coach Alec Foote said "Tusculum was a much-improved team over last year. We came up just a few points short, but it was a very good learning experience for us. We started three first year players and they all gained valuable experience today. "

How it Happened:
The University of Charleston men's tennis team pulled out an incredibly close match against Lincoln Memorial. Every single match was well contested from top to bottom. Charleston won two of the three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point.
Charleston won three of six singles matches with five of the six matches going to three sets. In the only two match,
Jowan Rawson clinched the win for the Golden
Eagles with a 6–4, 6–2 win at number four singles.
After the match player – coach,
John Giesberts said "This was a fantastic win for us. Whenever you win three setters, it shows mental toughness."
