A Trip to Morgantown Leads to Great Success for the Golden Eagles

Morgantown, WV - The Golden Eagles stayed in the mountain state as they traveled to West Virginia University to compete in the WVU Mountaineer Showcase this past weekend. As the teams get closer to Conference Championship weekend, they continue to showcase their talents wherever they go. The Golden Eagles, again, break previous school records and Coach Bias feels confident about his teams. 

New School Records:

Balie Destefano- 400m Hurdles
Destefano, the Ohio native set the new school record for the 400m hurdles this past weekend. The senior ran an impeccable race with a time of 1:03.64. Destefano earned 2nd place overall and is #1 in MEC.
4x400m Relay - Louanne Pouzancre, Marina Barahona, Balie Destefano, Camilia Hoya The four Golden Eagles set the new school record for the 4x00m Relay this past weekend with a time of 3:57.64. The ladies earned an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time and are #1 in the MEC by a three second separation between them and the #2 time.

Men

100m
Roberto Agrizzi earned 3rd overall in Morgantown with a time of 11.14. Teammate Antonio Sneed also competed, and earned 6th overall with a time of 11.23.

200m
Emirh White earned 6th place overall with a time of 22.76. His teammate, Alejandro Salgado, was right behind him with a time of 22.81 to earn 7th place overall.
400m
Michael Garrett earned 1st place overall, and is #5 in the MEC with a time of 49.05. Damian Smith also competed, and finished 8th overall with a time of 52.82.
1500m
Emmanuel Yego earned 1st place overall in the 1500m race with a time of 3:56.49. His time puts him currently #6 in the MEC. 
Jaime Blazquez was right behind his teammate, earning 2nd place overall with a time of 3:57.52. Cole Friend earned a top 10 finsih with a time of 4:09.04 to place 10th place overall.
3,000 Meter Steeplechase
Thomas Termote earned 1st place overall this past weekend with a time of 9:30.35. Termote's time places him #5 in the MEC. 
Pole Vault
Mathias Mees earned 2nd place overall also vaulting a height of 4.45 meters. His distance places him currently #4 in the MEC. 

Long Jump
Letlhogonolo Ramafuthula earned 5th place overall with a distance of 6.84 meters. Along with earning 5th in Morgantown, he also is currently #5 in the MEC. 

Javelin
Nathan Wheeler earned a top-10 finish, placing 10th overall with a distance of 40.80 meters. Nick Bryson also competed and earned a time of 37.83 meters to place 12th overall in Morgantown. 
400m Hurdles
Damian Smith earned 4th place overall in Morgantown with a time of 56.46. Smith currently holds the #6 spot in the MEC. James Shamblin also competed in the 400m Hurdles and ran of a time of 1:02.52 to earn 8th overall. 
110m Hurdles
Micah Hancock earned 4th place overall this past weekend with a time of 15.65. Hancock's time earns him a spot of #10 in the MEC. 
High Jump
Michael Garrett- earned 6th place overall with a height of 1.85 meters. Garrett is currently #7 in the MEC.
Women
200m
Camilia Hoya earned a top-10 finish over the weekend, placing 6th overall with a time of 26.97. Dasheya Booker also competed in the 200m race, and ran a time of 28.05 to earn 15th place overall.
400m
Three Golden Eagles earned top-10 finishes over the weekend. Earning 5th place overall. Erica Davis ran a time of 1:03.09. Teammate Dasheya Booker earned 7th overall with a time of 1:03.75, and Sage McLaughlin finished 8th overall with a time of 1:06.43. 
800m
Morgan Turner earned 11th place overall, running a time of 2:34.51.
1500m
Mercy Jepleting ran an impressive 4:44.73 to place 3rd place overall in Morgantown. Jepleting holds the #4 spot in the MEC. Madison Woolwine also earned a top-5 finish, placing 5th overall on the weekend, running a time of 4:47.74. Woolwine's time gives her the #6 spot in the MEC.

3,000m Steeplechase
Maelle Fuchs earned 2nd place overall in Morgantown with a quick and impressive time of 11:51. Darshay Foster also earned a top-5 finish, placing 4th overall with a time of 13:55. 
Shot Put
Abby McKinney earned 1st place overall on the weekend with an impressive distance in the shot put with a distance of 13.34 meters. Her shot put places her #1 in the MEC. Zowie Manuma earned 6th place overall in Morgantown with a distance of 10.95 meters. Manuma is currently #8 in the MEC. 
Javelin
Kalista Maline earned 5th place overall with a distance of 31.67 meters for Javelin. Along with placing 5th over the weekend, the freshman is currently #5 in the MEC. 
Hammer
Abby McKinney was not complete with her feats. McKinney earned 3rd overall in Morgantown on her Hammer with a distance of 39.74 meters. McKinney is currently #4 in the MEC.  Teammate Zowie Manuma also earned a top-10 finish with a distance of 37.59 meters, and gives her the #10 spot in the MEC.
Long Jump
Laura Delgado de Torres placed 9th overall on the weekend with a height of 5.09 meters. Delgado de Torres is currently #7 in the MEC. Kayla Lemkus jumped a height of 4.89 meters to earn 14th place overall. 
Triple Jump
Kayla Lemkus earned a top-5 finish over the weekend, placing 4th overall with a distance of 10.02 meters. Lemkus is currently #6 in the MEC.  Kalista Milne also competed, jumping a distance of 9.97 meters to place 5th place overall on the weekend, and earns herself the #7 spot in the MEC. 
The Golden Eagles also competed in the Jim Seaton Battler Invitational on April 22nd. Two Golden Eagles earned top place finishes. 
Alejandro Abellaneda earned first place overall in the 10,000m race, running a time of 32:52. 
Mercy Jepleting raced in the 400m race, placing 2nd place overall with a time of 1:01.46
Athlete of the Week Nominations 
Men
Emmanuel Yego earns the Men's AOW Nomination with his 1500m performance of 3:56.49. As her earned #1 overall in the showcase, he is also top 10 in the MEC, earning the #6 spot.

Women
With her new school record Balie Destefano is applicable for her New School Record in the 400 meter Hurdles. Her time of 1:03.64 gives her the 2nd place overall and #1 in the MEC.

What's Next: The Golden Eagles travel to Concord University to compete in an evening Meet against the Mountain Lions in Athens, West Virginia.
